Round 4 Review – St Georges Basin
Posted in Round 4 Review on 19. Apr, 2010
Beautiful blue skies and very little wind greeted 87 teams for the SSBS round 4 held on the magnificent St Georges Basin. 72 boating teams turned out for this event with locals Steve Gill and Mark Weber (Team Honda Marine) showing they are a force to be reckoned with again taking out first place in the boating section with a very nice 3.810kg bag for their five bream, including a monster 1.46kg bream which saw Steve also take out the Hobiecat/Culburra Bait and Tackle big bream prize. Well done boys.
Team Stalker (Aaron Clifton and David Waddell) guaranteed their place in this year’s grand final with their second place 3.780kg bag in the boating section. Team Bag Raiders (Wal Balzan and Tom McLean) completed the podium with a 3.415kg third place.
The kayak section saw 15 kayaks take to the water. Bragging rights for this round go to Hobie Fishing’s Derek Steele with his bag of 1.87kg securing him first place and qualification into this year’s grand final. Stewart Dunn continued with his consistent performances with a second place 1.720kg bag. Team AKFF’s Jason Price rounded out the top three with a nice 1.685kg bag.
The weigh-in was a spectacle for anglers and locals alike seeing a massive amount of good quality bream being weighed and released back into the St Georges Basin. Special mention must go to Wal and Guy on the weigh station, these boys did an amazing job of getting through 70 bags in 45 minutes.
That wraps up Round 4 from the St Georges Basin, Round 5 will see us head to the mighty Shoalhaven River on the 30th May, 2010. Hope to see you all there.
Cheers,
Jim
