Round 2 Review – Clyde River
Posted in Round 2 Review on 27. Feb, 2010
The glorious Clyde River was the venue for Round 2 of the Squidgy Southern Bream Series 2010, held on Sunday, 21st February. 44 boats and 18 kayaks departed from the BIG4 Nelligen Caravan Park to the delight of the early morning spectators. The day was hot and dry and definitely had its fair share of mosquitos after the rain of the week before.
Bream fishing was tough with the amount of fresh water flowing downstream but some managed to secure some decent bags. Culburra Bait and Tackle 2 (Grant Kime and Scott Brown) were one such team weighing in a 3.27kg bag for 5 bream to be crowned winners in the boating section of this round.
Second place in the boating round, with a bag of 2.965kg, was Bream Tracker (Jamie Pigram and Mark Pigram). Kustom Fishing Rods (Nick Reay and David Welfare) rounded out the top three with a bag weight of 2.935kg.
The kayakers found the fishing hard, as evidenced by only 5 bags being weighed in. A three bream bag weighing 1.15kg saw Hobiesports Daniel Holder take out first place in the kayak section. One bream weighing 0.58kg was enough for Team AKFF’s Jason Price to secure second place. Third place was won by another Team AKFF’s Craig Coughlan with his bag of 0.525kg.
The Culburra Bait and Tackle/Hobiecat Australasia Big Bream was a tie for the second time this year with Culburra Bait and Tackle 2’s Grant Kime and Bag Raiders Tom McLean both weighing in a 0.99kg bream.
