Round 1 Review – Georges River

Georges River

Georges River

Wow, what a start to the Squidgie Southern Bream Series. A total of 146 Anglers took part in the event which was hosted in the lovely Georges River.

The day began with the awesome sight of seeing all these anglers departing from the St George Sailing Club in calm water and a glorious sunrise. Then came the wind, and the rain, and back to sun again.

Monster bags were weighed in; with the boating section being won by Onagain (Neil Kelly and Andrew Hansler) with an amazing bag of 5.16kg for their 5 bream. Neil and Andrew also weighed a monster bream of 1.26kg to tie with team B.I.G (Darren Dowd and Kevin Attard) for the Culburra Bait and Tackle/Hobiecat Australasia Big Bream.

Another great bag was weighed in by Kayak Fishing Sydney’s Carl Dubois of 2.175 for 3 bream, seeing him take out the Kayak Section. With only 13 teams not weighing a bream in the Georges River was definitely firing for most of the anglers on Sunday.

Many thanks to the sponsors: Shimano, Lowrance, BRP Australia, Skeeter, Culburra Bait and Tackle, Damiki Tackle, Hobiecat Australasia and Fishing World. Thanks also to St Georges Sailing Club for use of their grounds.

Hope to see you all at Round 2 of the SSBS 2010 on the glorious Batemans Bay, Sunday 21st February.
